Four Seasons | Autumn

DATE: 2006
GENRE: Gallery installation
STATUS: Current

Through a synthesis of a 16 speaker audio soundscape by The Broadway Project, interactive sculptures, video installation and a constantly shifting lighting state, METRO-BOULOT-DODO have created an immersive atmospheric environment that takes the viewer through an autumnal 24 hours. TVs come to life, projections appear and fade and sounds drift around the gallery. An oak tree grows from an iron bed, an Austin Sprite decays in a nest of branches, a rusty iron bath swims with projected ducks and late night teletext charts one woman's restless night.

As well as catching up with FOUR SEASONS signature character, Polly, AUTUMN offers a snapshot of people entering the second half of their lives. The evenings get darker, curtains are drawn, memories haunt abandoned cots, regrets crackle out of radios and fresh hopes are illuminated in the new dawn.

AUTUMN is designed for galleries, theatres, or any indoor space with black out facility and offers a thoughtful, warm and intensely atmospheric reflection on the years between forty and sixty.

AUTUMN was commissioned by The City Gallery, Leicester, with financial assistance from Arts Council England, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, PRS Foundation and Leicester City Council.
