Since starting out in 1997 MBD has had a strong commitment to educational work and passing on the skills and experiences that we have enjoyed along the way. We continue to undertake a broad range of educational and public realm work that covers everything from video projects to primary school performances to devising work in further education. Among other things we have recently worked with 3 primary schools to create the opening video for the first creative partnerships national conference, a literacy development project that used drama to help writing skills, and worked through devising projects for college and degree students. And much more besides....

WORKSHOPS
METRO BOULOT DODO's workshops deal with the challenges faced when devising work. The devising techniques that MBD will share during the workshop aim to help students to create their own devised theatre. Above all MBD encourage students to "do" then "think" when devising theatre and guarantee an entertaining, fun and educational session. The workshops are ideal for group-devised work in all further education courses.
The company introduce or develop an understanding of the possibilities of experimentation in theatre, looking at gesture and stylisation through simple choreography of voice and movement. Workshops also look at improvisational techniques in movement and text, and the integration of new media in performance which is increasingly playing a part in the company's own work. All of the exercises that MBD share aim to encourage the creation of devised theatre in a physical, stylised and visual manner.
The company now also operate dedicated workshops for short film and the use of new media in performance, as well as training for both students and teachers in video capture and manipulation techniques.
METRO BOULOT DODO workshops can range from as little as three hours up to a whole semester. Longer workshops are individually tailored to suit the amount of time available and the level of participant's experience. This allows participants greater time and freedom to engage with the devising process and to research topics, skills and theories which will allow greater input into the final performance piece.
