logopt2 NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2008

Welcome to the December edition of the MBD Newsletter.

Well it’s that time of year again and, as the Christmas holidays loom, things are gradually slowing down for MBD after one of the company's busiest years.

2008 saw MBD premiering three major projects (WINTER, Nightscene, Communication Breakdown) and a host of smaller works. We presented shows in Holland, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and across the UK, as well as riding choppers through woodlands dressed as squirrels. So...... apologies for the slightly belated update but it has been bit hectic!

Anyway, enough of the past, what’s happening next?

After four lovely years at the LCB depot we have finally moved.

The last month has been a blur of builders, electricians painting and general DIY but we are finally in! A former warehouse on the outskirts of the cultural quarter is now the base for all MBD operations. The ground floor is a storage, workshop and exhibition area. The first floor is home to our new office.

There will be a launch event in the space around March/April next year. Hopefully by then we will have thought of a name. Dodo island? The Met Office? Suggestions on a postcard please.

SUMMER

Early next year MBD will start work on Summer.

After a 5 year journey we are preparing to complete the Four Seasons series of work. Looking to the seasons to reflect stages of life, Summer will investigate the years between 20 and 40. An end on piece featuring unusual and beautiful use of film and projection, Summer will consolidate the touring ambitions of The Four Seasons project playing at galleries, street festivals and returning the company to theatres.

WATCH THIS SPACE - SNIBSTON

MBD’s sister company Watch This Space will be producing an audio tour for Snibston Discovery park in spring next year.

Commissioned by Snibston discovery park & Leicestershire County Council with support from the renaissance project. Watch This Space - Snibston will highlight the historical, cultural and natural heritage of the area. After a making period early in 2009, the launch will take place on the 21st of April.
