research and development

MBD has a long history of research based collaborative working. Whether scouring archives, gathering our own interviews, or working alongside University research groups, MBD’s work is built on sharing knowledge and crafting stories from what we find.

MBD is the creative company in residence at Leicester University’s Institute for Digital Culture, and our recent collaboration with Aston University resulted in two VR experiences that are on show to audiences in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal museum. Virtual Vauxhall Gardens brought back to life the long since demolished rotunda that stood at the centre of one of London’s most iconic leisure spaces, and it won us a prestigious award for best cross departmental collaboration.

Heritage Fund project, Steel Town Tales, will use multiple archival sources to preserve the story of Corby’s steel industry, and a new exhibition for 2024 will uncover archives from six decades of UK graffiti for visitors to Leicester Museum and Art Gallery.

Working with research partners is essential to our work. Whether it is preserving stories at risk of being lost, or collaborating on innovations that will touch our future lives, get in touch to discuss your projects or plans. From concept to delivery, MBD’s skills bring research to life.
